Inter are confident they will finally complete a deal to sign Alexis Sanchez today, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Nerazzurri have agreed to pay €5 million of the Chilean’s annual salary, with Manchester United subsidising the rest.

Sanchez is due to join Inter on loan with an option to buy for €15 million, but Piero Ausilio and Beppe Marotta now want a lower fee after upping their contribution to his wages.

In any case, the forward is expected to arrive in Milan later on Tuesday before undergoing a medical and signing his new deal.

Gazzetta dello Sport confirmed Inter and United were much closer to an agreement after talks had slowed over the weekend.

They assured Anthony Martial’s injury would not block Sanchez’s departure, as had previously been feared, while adding that United now seemed ‘less rigid’ in negotiations over the Chilean’s wages.

Inter did not need Sanchez last night as they started their Serie A campaign with a comfortable 4-0 win against Lecce.

El Nino Maravilla could arrive in time to participate in their second league fixture away to Cagliari on Sunday.
