In a column in today’s print edition of Corriere della Sera, noted journalist Mario Sconcerti has reflected upon Inter’s collapse in last night’s 3-2 loss away to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
“Inter lost badly having won the first half 2-0. Something unexplainable happened to Inter, it was like they were swallowed up. The result of this was a sudden shower of errors and goals and the game was overturned. It took until the 83rd minute for Inter to get back into the game. Perhaps they thought they had already won,” he began his column.
“Inter did not play with the same quality as their opponents and were set-up wrong. Dortmund had numerical superiority everywhere on the pitch. After an hour, Inter collapsed.”
He concluded: “Inter are not the best team in Europe, we already knew that but they lost a game that was difficult to lose. In Italy it would never have happened. European football is different. Today it is as if there are a large number of second teams that play in Europe. Inter is one of them.”
