Report Explains Why Inter Missed Out On Dzeko, Llorente & Vidal In The Summer

In today’s print edition, Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed why Inter ended up not signing any of Edin Dzeko, Fernado Llorente and Arturo Vidal in the Summer transfer window.

Upon his arrival at the club, Inter manager Antonio Conte made it clear to club management that he wanted two physically strong strikers. He got one in the shape of Romelu Lukaku, who was signed in a club record €65 million deal from Manchester United.

He was also keen to add Dzeko but the Bosnian put an end to the rumours by penning a contract extension with Roma which led to Conte then requesting Llorente.

The veteran Spaniard was a free agent following his release from Tottenham Hotspur and Conte felt he would have been a perfect fit due to his experience and due to him previously working with him.

Inter never made a move though due to having Matteo Politano and as they were struggling to offload Mauro Icardi which led to them losing out on Llorente to fellow Serie A side Napoli.

As for Vidal, who Inter could go in for in January, no move was made due to the fact Borja Valero did not leave the club.
