Antonio Conte could have to resort to playing Antonio Candreva in central midfield with several of his midfielders injured according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
Stefano Sensi continues to struggle to recover from his thigh problem whilst Roberto Gagliardini is also dealing with an injury problem of his own.
Things were only made worse for Conte over the weekend when Nicolo Barella sustained a knee injury, which will keep him out of action for the forseeable future.
Borja Valero is the most likely player to come into the midfield but that is not to say that Conte will not try to adapt Candreva into a more central role due to the fact Borja Valero cannot play many games back to back.
Should Candreva be played in the middle of the park, either Valentino Lazaro or Danilo D’Ambrosio will take his place at right wing back.
The report from the Milanese newspaper goes on to state that Matteo Politano is making ample progress in his recovery from injury. The attacker has been dealing with an ankle injury but trained with the rest of the team for a large spell of yesterday’s sessions.
