Romelu Lukaku has drawn many parallels to legendary Inter striker Diego Milito in his short stint with the club so far and could draw yet another if he is to score tonight in the Champions League according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Belgian striker has so far failed to find the back of the net in the competition since his arrival at Inter in a club record transfer from Manchester United this past Summer.
The report states that Inter fans need not worry though as this is not the first time that a striker has struggled for goals in Europe despite scoring for fun in the league.
Diego Milito failed to score until the fourth match of the Champions League group stage in his first campaign with the club, a season which ended with Inter winning a historic treble under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho.
The Argentine’s first goal came in an Eastern European nation in Ukraine as he scored in the 2-1 win over Dynamo Kyiv.
Inter are facing another Eastern European side tonight in the Champions League in the shape of Slavia Prague and it could be the case that lightning strikes twice and Lukaku opens his Champions League account in Nerazzurri.
