Inter Manager Conte Could Deploy Candreva As A Trequartista Against Slavia Prague

Antonio Conte could deploy Inter in a 3-4-2-1 this evening against Slavia Prague in the Champions League according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

Due to injuries, Conte finds himself rather short in the midfield department and it looks likely that he will have to rely on 34-year-old Borja Valero in the Czech capital.

However, the Turin newspaper suggest that Conte uses a 3-4-2-1 system opposed to his tried and tested 3-5-2 system.

He could then utilise Antonio Candreva as a trequartista alongside Lautaro Martinez in behind club record transfer signing Romelu Lukaku.

Candreva is no stranger to the position but Conte will be hoping to avoid a repeat of the last time that Candreva played in this position in European football.

The last time the 32-year-old Italian played there was the final game of last season’s group stage against PSV, a match which ended in a draw which in turn condemned Inter to the Europa League.
