Antonio Conte spoke with Inter TV following Inter’s 3-1 triumph over Slavia Prague in the penultimate round of Champions League group stage action.
“Congratulations to the boys. In the pre-match conference I said that it was important for us to have a reference and that was the first meeting. We found ourselves in some situations that surprised us because the Champions League is completely different to the league,” he said.
“We prepared well and the boys managed to get a result despite certain situations that would have unnerved almost anyone. At the half time interval we were relaxed and got ourselves ready for an important second half performance from every point of view. We have shown that we are still alive.”
He was then asked how he felt when Slavia Prague drew level from the penalty spot.
“The players knew what they had to do and I think having a good idea helped us to overcome situations that could have created nervousness. At the end of the first half I told the players to get rid of any nervousness.
“We know what we have to do and we will continue to do it. The team is doing very well and I want to thank the boys, who give me complete availability.
“I am very happy for all of the players. I have great faith in this group. I am happy for those who always play or those like Borja Valero, who only made his first start.”
