Player Ratings Slavia Prague 1 – 3 Inter: Romelu Lukaku’s & Lautaro Martinez’ Champions League Show

It was a must win match that was won after the Nerazzurri managed to get all three points away against Slavia Prague at the Sinobo Stadium.

A Romelu Lukaku goal sandwiched between a Lautaro Martinez brace, means that a win in the last match at home against a Barcelona who have nothing to play for, after having secured the group win, will be enough to play Champions League football after Christmas for the first time since 2012.

Samir Handanovic – 7: Not a very busy night for Samir, but as usual when he was called upon, he was world class. Didn’t have much to do as Inter didn’t risk backpasses.

Diego Godin – 6,5: Sturdy. Inter needed all the experience Diego has accumulated over the years on a pitch and opponent like this. Got beaten maybe once in 90 minutes.

Stefan de Vrij – 6: Silent leader and is slowly overshadowing all the defenders in Conte’s Inter. The goal was absolutely delightful and couldn’t come at a better time.

Milan Skriniar – 6: Back to the left of de Vrij and Maresca certainly didn’t let him play his physical way. Still managed to keep out Torino’s attack. Lots of battles all over.

Antonio Candreva – 6: D’Ambrosio comes back to the lineup and Inter keeps a clean sheet. Surely can’t be a coincidence now. Shut down his flank in the terrible conditions. Fighter.

Borja Valero – 6: Nicolo wincing is not a good sight to see. That was Inter’s only negative on the night. Had a decent game before that. Played at his usual high tempo.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6,5: The central area of the pitch was the worst and Brozo played on it like a veteran. The only mistakes came when he was dead tired. Great assist.

Matias Vecino – 5,5: Another strong performance by Matias who has rediscovered himself in the last few games. Imporant assist for Lautaro. Ran throughout the 90 minutes.

Cristiano Biraghi – 6.5: Much improved performance from Cristiano. Defended bravely and also made a few marauding runs in the puddles. Delightful cross to Stefan de Vrij.

Lautaro Martinez – 8: Lautaro is getting better and better as he plays more minutes. Ran himself into the ground, the only complaint would be the unnecessary booking.

Romelu Lukaku – 9: Poor first half, but Romelu manages to keep his calm inside the box and when he has a chance. On another day could have had a couple more goals.

Roberto Gagliardini – 6: After being on the bench virtually since the start of the season, that was a decent performance on a waterlogged pitch. We will be seeing more of him.

Valentino Lazaro – 6: Conte’s go to man as usual. Came on and provided breathing space to D’Ambrosio and even managed a few dangerous forays forward. Crucial.

Sebastiano Esposito – N/A: Federico only had 10 minutes on the pitch but he managed to show why Conte doesn’t trust him yet. Made simple errors and conceded fouls unnecessarily.

Antonio Conte – 8: Antonio surely wont be happy with Barella’s injury but his game plan worked almost to perfection. Inter controlled most of the game without the ball.

Szymon Marciniak – 7: Fell for too many soft free kicks especially by Ansaldi. Spotted a Lukaku handball when there was literally none. Managed to keep control but still was poor.

Inter – 7,5: This game was all about the attitude needed to keep Inter in the race. The team showed plenty of fight inspite of the terrible conditions and injuries.
