Antonio Conte and his Inter side have made history with their win over SPAL yesterday, a report in today’s print edition of Milanese newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport highlights.
The Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win, which came thanks to a double from on-form striker Lautaro Martinez, was their 12th win in 14 league games this season, the first time an Inter team have ever achieved this feat since Serie A adopted its current format. The previous record was 11 wins and that record had stood since the 1950/51 season.
The report also goes on to highlight that this is the 20th time in history that Inter find themselves occupying top spot at this stage of the season. On 11 of the previous 19 occasions that this has happened, Inter have went on to go and win the Serie A title.
Inter have picked up 37 points from a possible 42 available to them this season and hold a one point lead over arch-rivals Juventus, who are sitting in second.
