Inter defender Milan Skriniar discussed the Nerazzurri’s important 2-0 win in the Serie A away against Udinese moments after the final whistle with Italian broadcaster InterTV.
“A very difficult match. This ground is always a very tough place to come to, it’s never easy. In the first half we were a bit stuck, then in the second half everything went better, we unlocked the game and we won.
“In the first 45 minutes we conceded too many counter attacks, we knew Udinese would play like that.”
The 24-year-old Slovakian defender then discussed how it felt to be the temporary captain on the pitch, due to Samir Handanovic’s injury.
“A source of pride for me. I was happy, but the way we play doesn’t change. I try to give my best for this team and these colours.
“We have to prepare well now for the derby, we have a difficult game ahead of us, but we have to give our best.”
Skriniar, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, made his 27th appearance across all competitions for the club so far this season. In his 2357 minutes on the pitch, the 24-year-old has provided one assist and been one of the most important defenders in the league. The player is essential to coach Antonio Conte’s defensive tactical plans.
Inter’s win over Udinese means that they are still three points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus. The Bianconeri won their game against Fiorentina earlier today, sustaining their lead.
The Milanese club are also only two points ahead of the third place Lazio, who won their game against SPAL 5-1 earlier today.
