Inter’s Belgian international striker Romelu Lukaku spoke about the Nerazzurri’s important 2-0 win in the Serie A away against Udinese in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia, moments after the final whistle.

“After the win against Fiorentina we gained more confidence. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we did well in the second half by scoring two goals and that’s important for the season.

“Against Juve and Lazio it’s a good challenge, for us it’s important to stay up there.”

The 26-year-old Belgian striker then spoke about the Nerazzurri’s upcoming game against AC Milan next weekend and if he is leading the team.

“Next week we’ve got AC Milan, we are doing well, hopefully we’ll keep it that way. If I’m a leader at Inter? No, I just want to do well for this team.

“It’s important for me that the team feels good with me so I can give them confidence. I make a lot of difference in the away games, but I also make a difference at the San Siro.”

Lukaku, who is contracted to the Milanese club until the end of June 2024, scored two goals in tonight’s win. The former Manchester United striker has now scored 22 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri, also providing four assists in that time.

He has formed a formidable striking partnership with Argentine forward Lautaro Martinez, who was suspended and couldn’t play today.

The Nerazzurri are now three points behind Juventus at the top of the league table. The Bianconeri won their game against Fiorentina 3-0 earlier today, sustaining their lead ahead of the Milanese club. Inter are only two points ahead of third place Lazio, whose 5-1 over SPAL today reminded fans that they were still in the title race.
