Inter Midfielder Sensi: “I’ll Do Everything I Have To Do To Be Ready For Milan Derby”

Inter central midfielder Stefano Sensi has admitted he is working hard in a bid to recover in time for this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina with AC Milan.

The Italian international has been struggling with a calf problem as of late and has missed Inter’s past two games but has assured Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia he will do everything he can to try and be back to help out his teammates against the Rossoneri.

“I’m fine, I’m working hard to get to the derby in the best condition. We will evaluate my condition day by day. I will train and do everything I have to do to be ready,” he began.

This current injury is not the first that Sensi has sustained during his brief time with Inter so far and he then spoke on how it has affected him.

“I have suffered a lot because these injuries prevented me from helping the team and being part of the wins we have achieved. These are things that happen, that are part of the job and you have to face them.

“When there are these problems you try to find that something to change and go in search of the causes. I am focused on work, I spend the whole day at the training centre trying to heal and I will do it again this week.”

Next he dismissed comparisons that have been made by him and legendary midfielder Andres Iniesta.

“Iniesta is unique, there are few players like him. I take inspiration from him, but I don’t think I’m like him. It would be an honour to be as good.”

He then reflected on Inter’s season so far.

“We try to give our best because we want to be attached to Juve, Lazio is also a great team that is doing well. We work to not make mistakes and to pick up as many points as possible.”

He then spoke on the derby itself.

“We have enthusiasm, we are preparing the match like all the others, but it is obvious that the derby is a match in itself. You win with your heart, we will do our best.”

Next the former Sassuolo man spoke on the club’s January transfer window addition Christian Eriksen.

“For sure Eriksen gives us that little bit more because he has been at the top for years, now he will have to settle in. He has joined us, we talk to each other, on the field he is showing his qualities. He can help us.”

Sensi proceeded to discuss how it is to work under Conte.

“The manager is someone who is always up for it, regardless of the opponent. He is now calm but he always gets us up for games and gives us enthusiasm.”

He concluded by speaking on Inter back-up goalkeeper Daniele Padelli who might play again on Sunday due to Samir Handanovic’s injury.

“We are calm, we don’t know if Samir will be there. Padelli is a great goalkeeper, he showed it in Udine. We are happy even if he plays.”
