Inter Defender Diego Godin: “This Is A Deserved Win & Good Result”

Inter centre back Diego Godin believes that Inter were deserved 2-0 winners in their Europa League round of 32 first leg win over Bulgarian powerhouses Ludogorets.

Ludogorets defended well for over an hour and limited Inter to very little in the way of space to attack into but their defence was breached on the 70th minute when Christian Eriksen grabbed his first Inter goal after some nice build-up play.

Romelu Lukaku doubled Inter’s lead right at the very end of the tie at the Ludogorets Arena in Razgrad, Bulgaria, as he slotted home a penalty which Inter received after a clear handball.

“We played a good game, against an opponent that had to be respected, given that they participated in the Champions League League a few years ago and they are dominating their league,” Godin explained to Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV.

“In the first half we found no spaces, while in the second half we played with more intensity. With Eriksen’s goal we opened up the match. I think this is a deserved win. It is a good result, in view of the return leg. Now let’s go back to Italy.”

Godin joined Inter this past Summer on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

The experienced defender joined on a three year contract and has now made 24 appearances across all competitions for the club, during which time he has contributed a single assist and helped the Nerazzurri to keep several clean sheets.
