Inter Midfielder Vecino: “We Came Here With The Idea Of Achieving An Important Result”

Inter central midfielder Matias Vecino has admitted that he and his teammates achieved what they set out to do as they won the first leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie against Ludogorets.

The Uruguayan international made his 22nd appearance across all competitions and played the entirety of the game at the Ludogorets Arena in Razgrad, where Inter were made to really work for their victory.

The hosts made it very difficult for Inter to get anywhere near the goal for large spells of the game but Inter managed to find a breakthrough with thanks to Christian Eriksen, who grabbed his first goal for the club from outside the box in the middle of the second half.

Inter’s lead was then doubled by top scorer Romelu Lukaku, who netted his 22nd goal of the season, from the penalty spot in the final minutes of the match.

“In the first half there was little in the way of any tempo to the game. In the second half we upped the tempo and managed to score two goals,” Vecino, who joined Inter in the Summer of 2017, told Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV.

“We came here with the idea of achieving an important result, in view of the return leg. We have to prepare for the next game now. After two defeats, we wanted to get back to winning ways.”
