Inter manager Antonio Conte is unsure about which players to deploy in no less than four positions ahead of this weekend’s Derby D’Italia match away to Juventus according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.
Starting with goalkeeper, the former Italian national team boss is unsure whether he will have Samir Handanovic available to him or not. If the Slovenian shot-stopper is available, he will play, if not Daniele Padelli will continue to deputise in his absence.
Handanovic’s condition is to be tested ahead of the match and the outcome of said tests will determine the captain’s availability for the clash at the Allianz Stadium, that looks likely to be played behind closed doors.
Conte is set on playing Milan Skriniar and Stefan de Vrij as two of his three central defenders but is yet to decide who will fill the third spot. Alessandro Bastoni has emerged this season and kept Diego Godin out the team with his impressive performances but Conte might opt for Godin due to his superior big game experience.
The report in the Turin based newspaper goes on to add that it is between Danilo D’Ambrosio and Antonio Candreva to start at right wing back. D’Ambrosio started in the first Derby D’Italia for tactical reasons but has not played much as of late due to injury whilst Candreva has found form again in the last few weeks.
The final position up for grabs is in midfield and it is between Christian Eriksen and Matias Vecino. Had Inter’s match with Sampdoria went ahead, Eriksen would’ve started in that and would have almost certainly started against Juventus.
However it is not certain that he will start on Sunday as Conte could opt for Vecino who has become known to pop up in big moments.
