Edin Dzeko will not sign a new deal with Roma because the forward is waiting for a move to Inter, according to Corriere della Sera.
Sources elsewhere last week suggested the Giallorossi would offer the Bosnian a contract extension, with Inter still a long way off their €20 million asking price.
Dzeko, however, has decided to leave the capital and sees no point in extending the deal that is due to expire next summer.
The paper reported this morning: “Neither Roma nor Inter are making a move towards the other, but how long can this go on for? And who is under the most pressure?
“Dzeko keeps reminding his Bosnian friends of the decision he has made: Inter.”
Roma want Gonzalo Higuain to become their replacement but sporting director Gianluca Petrachi is struggling to win the forward over.
Higuain is determined to stay at Juventus this season and this may force Roma to keep Dzeko, even if he is unhappy about it.
Roma and Inter’s managements will cross paths today as Serie A’s fixture ceremony takes place in Milan, and developments relating to Dzeko are expected.
