Romelu Lukaku’s future will be decided in the next seven days as Inter and Juventus chase the Manchester United forward, according to Tuttosport.
The Nerazzurri’s last offer of €60 million plus bonuses was a long way off United’s €88 million asking price, but the distance is not thought to be unbridgeable.
Inter could add another €12-15 million to their bid if they fail to secure a deal for Roma striker Edin Dzeko, as that money would suddenly become available again.
Alternatively, Beppe Marotta could raise funds by selling either Mauro Icardi or Radja Nainggolan, but this does not appear to be straightforward in the short term.
United only have until 8 August to sign a replacement for Lukaku and this has led them to offer the player to Juventus, who could send them Paulo Dybala in return.
The clubs have began talks over a sensational swap deal and the fact Dybala has not rejected United out of hand increases the chance a deal will go through.
Lukaku wants a move to Serie A this summer and until a few days ago he was certain it would be Inter who signed him.
However, the scenario has changed since Thursday as his agent Federico Pastorello works to secure any deal that will take him from England to Italy.
