Romelu Lukaku ‘Pushing To Leave Man Utd This Week’ As Inter Seek Breakthrough

Romelu Lukaku is determined to leave Manchester United this week as Inter continue to work on a deal for the forward, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Lukaku will miss United’s final preseason friendly against Kristiansund tomorrow but the paper insisted the striker is not injured.

Inter had a €60 million bid rejected earlier this month, with United continuing to value the 26-year-old at around €88 million.

“United have mooted an early deadline for Inter to sign Lukaku to leave them enough time to sign a replacement, since the Premier League transfer window closes next week on August 8,” Samuel Luckhurst reported this morning.

“However, sources close to Lukaku are unaware of an earlier deadline but told the MEN: ‘It’s time to make a decision’.”

Lukaku’s entourage believe Inter need to sell either Mauro Icardi or Radja Nainggolan before they can make an improved bid.

The striker no longer feels ‘important’ under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and is confident Antonio Conte would make him a key player of his Inter side in Milan.

“You know very well I like this player, but I think today Lukaku is a player of United, it’s the reality and this is the truth,” Conte said before the clubs’ preseason friendly match on 20 July.

“For sure I like this player and consider him an important player for us to have a good improvement, but at the same time there is a transfer market and we know very well this is our situation in this moment. We will see what happens.”
