Italian political party Lega have presented the Milan city council with a suggestion on how San Siro could be utilised in the future once Inter and AC Milan move out into their proposed new stadium according to a report from Calcioefinanza.it.
The Lega’s proposal, which has been made possible with thanks to a study conducted by engineer Riccardo Aceti, professor of Construction Technology at the Politecnico di Milano, would be for the third tier at San Siro to be turned into a panoramic gallery that would have various uses, including being used for commercial space and restaurants.
The third tier to San Siro was built as part of renovations made to San Siro ahead of the 1990 World Cup but has saw limited usage in recent years with it typically only used for matches against the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and big Champions League matches.
If the Milan city council were to take the Lega’s suggestion on board, San Siro’s capacity would be reduced from 80,018 to around 60,000.
